Neglect

Facility staff members are responsible for meeting an elder's basic needs, including food, water, shelter, clothing, and necessary medical care such as turning and repositioning. Failure to do so may be considered neglect. Contact us right away if you see signs of malnourishment, dehydration, infection, fractures from falls, and wounds such as pressure sores.

Physical Abuse

The facility's staff should never abuse an elder. Physical action that causes harm include punching, slapping, pulling, shoving, and unnecessary use of restraints. If your elderly loved one says he or she was abused, or if you spot signs of unexplained bruising, wounds, or other injuries, give us a call right away.

Wrongful Death

If abuse and neglect leads to an elder's death, the facility should be held accountable. The elder's family members can file a claim against the facility for causing the loss of a loved one. Give us a call for a free consultation to see whether you have a cause of action for wrongful death.

Sexual Abuse

Unfortunately, sexual abuse at facilities occur more than we know. This includes any sexual contact between a resident and members of the facility staff or volunteers. In some case, sexual elder abuse can even happen between residents. If you believe your loved one is a victim of sexual abuse, contact us as soon as possible.

Emotional Abuse

If a facility employee isolates a resident, taunts them, calls them names, or intentionally invokes fear such conduct may amount to infliction of emotional abuse. You or your loved one should never be subject to such abuse. Contact us right away if you or your loved one is a victim of emotional and psychological abuse.

Financial Abuse

Nursing homes often have access to a resident's money and other sensitive information. Misuse of an elder's assets can lead to financial elder abuse and theft. If you believe your loved one is a victim of financial abuse, feel free to contact us for a free evaluation.

Elder Planning

Elder planning provides autonomy through proper financial planning and long-term care options. This includes estate planning, assessment for Medi-Cal eligibility, preparation of end-of-life planning and advance healthcare directives. Contact us for more information.
